Charitable Aims and Organisation

The Kent Association for Disabled People is a company limited by guarantee, incorporated in 2002 and registered as a charity in 2003 taking over the assets and operations of its predecessor, the Kent Association for the Disabled which had been active in Kent for over 30 years.

The objects of the company are to promote the welfare of disabled people within the county of Kent through localised branches and centralised initiatives.

The Management Board comprises four officers elected annually at the AGM (Chair, Vice Chair, Treasurer & Secretary and the County Administrator) and a representative of each operating area Branch; collectively The Trustees.

The Honourable Lady Pender has accepted the role of Honorary President.

The Trustees meet regularly to exercise general oversight over the operations of the Charity as a whole, including those carried out by its local branches.

The County Administrator is responsible for coordinating the Branch activities and arranging up to three Respite Holidays with Care at Bognor Regis and Eastbourne hotels

There are five autonomous Branches and two Affiliated Clubs and an Affiliated Residential Home.
